Civil and Criminal Barrister

After 20 years working in animal biotechnology, Fleur embarked on a law degree and graduated from the University of Waikato in 2018 with an LLB.

During her studies she received the Thomson Reuters Prize for Legal Method, the Evans Bailey & Co. Prize in Jurisprudence, and the Resolution Institute Prize in Dispute Resolution. She was also awarded the Legal Research Foundation Prize as top first year law student and the LexisNexis Prize as highest achieving third and fourth year law student. 

Fleur joined Riverbank Chambers in September 2019 as junior barrister to James Gurnick and Phillip Cornegé. Fleur assisted James and Phillip with their civil and criminal case loads, appearing in the Employment Court, District Court, and High Court.

Since 1 May 2023, Fleur has practiced as a barrister sole, specialising in criminal and civil litigation. She is a PAL1 Legal Aid provider and has acted for more than 300 criminal clients, from first appearance, through to trial and sentencing. She is approved to appear before the Parole Board.

Fleur also assists David O’Neill in his civil practice.
